What is CVE-2025-58180?
OctoPrint is a widely used web interface for controlling consumer 3D printers. A vulnerability exists in versions prior to 1.11.3, permitting an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands via a specially crafted filename during file uploads. When this filename is incorporated in a system event handler command, and the associated event is triggered, it can lead to command execution. If event handlers that execute commands with filenames are not configured, the risk is mitigated. Users are encouraged to upgrade to version 1.11.3 or implement workarounds such as disabling the use of filenames in event handlers. Administrators should also manage network exposure and review existing file uploads to enhance security.
Affected Version(s)
OctoPrint < 1.11.3
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
