What is CVE-2025-5918?

A flaw in the libarchive library has been discovered that could be exploited when file streams are piped into bsdtar. This out-of-bounds read issue may allow attackers to read beyond the expected limits of a file, potentially resulting in unpredictable program behavior, memory corruption, or service interruptions. Users are advised to upgrade to version 3.8.0 or higher to mitigate these risks.
