Integer Overflow Vulnerability in Filecoin's Fast Finality Implementation by Filecoin Project
CVE-2025-59942
What is CVE-2025-59942?
The go-f3 implementation for Filecoin experiences an integer overflow vulnerability in versions 0.8.6 and below, which leads to potential node crashes. When validating 'poison' messages, the system panics, enabling attackers to disrupt Filecoin nodes by sending crafted messages directly to them. These messages exploit flaws in signer index validation, but they do not self-propagate, requiring direct transmission from the attacker. This vulnerability is addressed in version 0.8.7, emphasizing the importance of keeping software updated to mitigate risks.
