What is CVE-2025-67722?

FreePBX, an open-source web interface for managing Asterisk, has a vulnerability that allows authenticated users in the 'asterisk' group to exploit the deprecated 'amportal' script. This script incorrectly handles the lookup for the 'freepbx_engine' file in writable directories, potentially allowing a non-root user to execute arbitrary commands with root permissions. Users are encouraged to upgrade to versions 16.0.45 or 17.0.24, ensure only trusted users are in the 'asterisk' group, check for suspicious files, and confirm proper configurations in Asterisk settings.
