What is CVE-2025-68244?

A vulnerability exists in the Intel graphics driver within the Linux kernel related to lock inversion when pinning virtual memory areas (VMAs) to the Graphics General Purpose Translation Table (GGTT) on Cherry View (CHV) and Broxton (BXT) processors with Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VTD) enabled. This issue can cause deadlocks due to dependencies between the cpu_hotplug and reservation wait-write locks, which can be triggered during simultaneous operations. Systems running affected kernel versions may experience unexpected failures or performance degradation.
