Incorrect Probe Error Handling in Linux Kernel Affecting MIPI UniPro Implementation
CVE-2025-68316
What is CVE-2025-68316?
In the Linux kernel, a significant issue has been identified in the handling of probe errors related to the MIPI UniPro interface. When a driver fails to initialize during the DME Link Startup process, an incorrect error return value of 1 is propagated, which is incorrectly interpreted as a successful initialization. This oversight causes the driver to enter an invalid state upon removal, leading to potential system instability or crashes. The error return value has been corrected to properly align with expected failure indications, ensuring that driver probe functions accurately reflect the success or failure of the initialization process.
