Service Discovery Vulnerability in Avahi Affected by Unsuspected Network Announcements
CVE-2025-68468
6.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2025-68468?
Avahi, a critical component enabling service discovery on local networks through the mDNS/DNS-SD protocol suite, contains a vulnerability that allows it to be disrupted. When avahi-daemon receives unsolicited announcements with CNAME resource records pointing to resources with short Time-To-Live (TTL) values, it can lead to a crash of the service. This instability arises when the TTL expires, highlighting a significant risk for systems utilizing Avahi for network service discovery.
