Infinite Loop Vulnerability in Cloudflare quiche QUIC Implementation
CVE-2025-7054
What is CVE-2025-7054?
Cloudflare's quiche, a QUIC implementation, is prone to an infinite loop vulnerability due to improper handling of RETIRE_CONNECTION_ID frames. When the QUIC handshake completes, the local endpoint manages connection IDs, crucial for packet routing. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this flaw by crafting specific packets that lead to a retirement of a connection ID that can result in endless looping. As a result, this affects the normal traffic flow and could lead to resource exhaustion. The vulnerability impacts versions 0.15.0 through 0.24.5 of quiche, heightening the need for immediate updates and security measures.
