Vulnerability in Linux Kernel Affecting LoongArch Architecture
CVE-2025-71129
What is CVE-2025-71129?
A vulnerability has been identified in the Linux kernel specifically related to the LoongArch architecture's BPF (Berkeley Packet Filter) functionality. This issue arises from improper handling of kfunc call arguments, which are native calls that must adhere to specific calling conventions. If not handled correctly, this could lead to kernel panic scenarios. To address this, a new helper function, emit_abi_ext(), has been introduced. This function ensures that argument values are sign-extended properly in place, which is distinct from the existing sign_extend() helper and cannot be reused. This fix reinforces the reliability of the kernel and prevents potential system crashes.
