Webhook Token Disclosure in Stoatchat by Stoat Technologies
CVE-2025-71388
7.6HIGH
What is CVE-2025-71388?
The Stoatchat application from Stoat Technologies contains a vulnerability that allows users with only read permissions on a channel to access and exploit webhook tokens. This misconfiguration occurs because the webhook fetch endpoint erroneously checks for ViewChannel permissions instead of the more restrictive ManageWebhooks rights. Consequently, attackers can retrieve sensitive tokens and send arbitrary messages to the channel, effectively bypassing existing channel permissions and impersonating a bot or webhook. The vulnerability has been addressed in version 20250210-1 (0.8.2), which restricts access to the webhook tokens appropriately.
