What is CVE-2025-71426?

The Contrast platform for Kubernetes contains a vulnerability in versions prior to 1.4.1, where a recovering Coordinator does not validate the supplied seed from the recovering party. This flaw allows an attacker to deploy a rogue Coordinator that can manipulate network traffic, impersonating a legitimate workload owner. If the workload owner sets a new manifest without verifying the returned root CA certificate, the attacker can issue deceptive certificates leading back to their rogue Coordinator's root CA. Consequently, workload secrets can be exposed for workloads deployed post-attack, while the secrets of the legitimate Coordinator remain secure.
