Uncontrolled Recursion Vulnerability in libxml2 XML Parsing Library
CVE-2026-0990
5.9MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-0990?
A flaw in the libxml2 XML parsing library leads to an uncontrolled recursion vulnerability due to recursive references within an XML catalog. Attackers can exploit this by crafting a specific XML catalog that points to itself, resulting in infinite recursion. This can exhaust the call stack and cause a segmentation fault, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) situation by crashing the affected applications.
