What is CVE-2026-100838?

The Contrast confidential-computing runtime for Kubernetes prior to version 1.19.1 contains a flaw in the CopyFile verification within the Kata agent policies. This flaw allows a malicious process on an untrusted host to connect to the Kata agent VSOCK and issue CopyFile requests, which can overwrite critical files in the guest's root filesystem. This vulnerability can lead to unauthorized access and manipulation of secure workloads, potentially resulting in full guest system compromise. Users unable to upgrade are advised to apply a rego policy fix through the Contrast CLI.
