What is CVE-2026-102473?

A flaw exists in the Dash shell that allows for unbounded recursion when built without the libc fnmatch function. The pmatch() matcher, under certain conditions, can process an input pattern with a sequence of multi-star elements, such as ....*.tar.gz, leading to excessive CPU consumption. A local user capable of manipulating filenames or interfacing with the matcher can exploit this flaw, potentially disrupting system performance.
