Security Flaw in SSSD Affects Microsoft Identity Provider Interaction
CVE-2026-104040

4.4MEDIUM

What is CVE-2026-104040?

A security flaw is present in SSSD when it interacts with the Entra ID identity provider. Specifically, input lookup names that include single quotes are not escaped correctly, leading to potential exploitation by low-privileged local users. By crafting specific search requests, an attacker could manipulate query filters to perform unauthorized searches for users or groups. This vulnerability may result in unintended information exposure by returning sensitive directory objects, and it could also facilitate a Denial of Service (DoS) attack through excessive processing demands and cache overflow.
