Denial of Service Vulnerability in SSSD Affecting Red Hat Products
CVE-2026-104042
5.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-104042?
A vulnerability exists in SSSD where a local attacker can exploit the service by sending a specially crafted Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) request that includes a zero-length authentication token. This exploitation occurs due to a lack of proper input validation, leading the service to read beyond buffer boundaries while processing the token, ultimately causing the PAM responder to crash. This situation creates a Denial of Service condition, impacting the availability and reliability of the service.
