Denial of Service Vulnerability in sssd for Red Hat Systems
CVE-2026-104044

6.2MEDIUM

What is CVE-2026-104044?

A vulnerability has been identified in sssd, where a local attacker can exploit the system by sending a specially crafted Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) request when passkey authentication is enabled. The flaw arises from a lack of state validation checks in the handling of passkey Kerberos, leading to the PAM responder dereferencing an uninitialized pointer, resulting in a crash. This disruption severely affects authentication services on the host system.
