Heap-based Buffer Overflow Flaw in Eye of GNOME Affects Red Hat Products
CVE-2026-107651
5.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-107651?
A security flaw in Eye of GNOME (eog) has been identified, featuring a heap-based buffer overflow within the PNG metadata reader. This vulnerability arises due to inadequate state management when processing split metadata chunks in PNG files. A malicious actor could exploit this by persuading a victim to open a specially crafted PNG file, which could lead to arbitrary code execution or trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) condition through application crashes.
