What is CVE-2026-107660?

An improper certificate validation vulnerability exists in the FFmpeg library, particularly affecting versions before 8.1.3 and 9.x prior to 9.0.2. This flaw resides in the 'tls_open()' function within the 'libavformat/tls_mbedtls.c' file. It allows attackers to bypass hostname checks for IP-address hosts. Consequently, an attacker can exploit this vulnerability to intercept HTTPS, RTMPS, or TLS connections towards IP-literal URLs using any valid CA-issued certificate, facilitating unauthorized access to sensitive streams.
