What is CVE-2026-107696?
FFmpeg versions up to 9.0.2 have a vulnerability in the RTSP redirect handling within the ff_rtsp_connect() function in libavformat/rtsp.c. The flaw allows attackers with control over the RTSP server to send continuous 302 redirects to the same or a different server. This leads to an infinite loop of reconnections, causing a single CPU core to become saturated and may result in performance degradation or service denial.
Affected Version(s)
FFmpeg 0 <= 9.0.2
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
