What is CVE-2026-108693?

ImageMagick versions on Windows prior to 7.1.2-33 and 6.9.13-58 are susceptible to an uncontrolled search path vulnerability within the NTGhostscriptEXE() function. This flaw allows attackers to execute arbitrary code with ImageMagick's privileges by placing a malicious version of gswin64c.exe in the current working directory when PDF, PostScript, or EPS files are processed. If Ghostscript is not registered, the application attempts to launch gswin64c.exe by its bare name, which can lead to significant security risks. It is crucial to implement protective measures to mitigate this vulnerability.

Affected Version(s)

ImageMagick 7.0.0-0 <= 7.1.2-33

ImageMagick 0 <= 6.9.13-58

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
