What is CVE-2026-109348?

The gix-mailmap component of Gitoxide prior to version 0.35.0 is vulnerable to a denial of service attack due to inefficient parsing of crafted .mailmap files. This vulnerability allows attackers to create .mailmap entries ordered in a specific manner that results in quadratic-time parsing. Consequently, operations that rely on this parsing, such as log, blame, or shortlog commands, can cause excessive CPU usage, potentially freezing the application and impacting productivity.
