What is CVE-2026-109573?

An SQL injection vulnerability exists in phpMyFAQ prior to version 4.1.9, specifically within the PdoMysql::escape() function. This issue arises when MySQL or MariaDB is configured in NO_BACKSLASH_ESCAPES mode, allowing attackers to exploit this vulnerability through the api/autocomplete search parameter. By sending a Unicode right single quotation mark, which is converted to an ASCII quote, an unauthenticated attacker can manipulate database queries. This opens the possibility to read sensitive credentials, alter records or even drop tables, posing a significant risk to database integrity and security.
