What is CVE-2026-109678?

In FreeRDP versions prior to 3.32.0, a vulnerability exists in the smartcard emulation feature that allows a malicious RDP server to exploit the SCardStatusA request. When built with verbose WinPR assertions, the emulation may pass a NULL reader-name destination to the scard_copy_strings function, potentially leading to client connection termination.
