What is CVE-2026-109942?

The vulnerability in FreeRDP versions prior to 3.32.0 involves a NULL pointer dereference due to improper handling of CLOSE_CHANNEL packets within the RD Gateway. Specifically, the function rdg_process_control_packet accepts a header-only PKT_TYPE_CLOSE_CHANNEL packet, leading to a scenario where a null payload is passed without validation. This flaw allows an attacker controlling a malicious RD Gateway to crash the FreeRDP client by sending a crafted eight-byte CLOSE_CHANNEL header.
