Security Flaw in Clevis PKCS#11 Pin Affects Red Hat Products
CVE-2026-109970
4.7MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-109970?
A vulnerability in the Clevis PKCS#11 pin allows the 'clevis-luks-pkcs11-askpin' script to unintentionally write the PKCS#11 token PIN in plaintext to a file without appropriate permission settings. Under typical umask settings, this file becomes world-readable, leading to potential unauthorized access. Moreover, if the decryption script fails to execute properly, the PIN may remain accessible in the system for an indefinite period, increasing the risk of exposure.
