What is CVE-2026-110661?

CGNS versions up to 4.5.2 are susceptible to a stack out-of-bounds read vulnerability within the ADFI_read_node_header function. This flaw allows attackers to produce specially crafted .cgns or .adf files with non-NUL-terminated end tags, which can result in the ADFI_stridx_c function reading beyond the intended memory bounds. Such an exploit has the potential to crash applications that utilize these files, including tools like cgnslist, causing disruption in workflow and system operations.

Affected Version(s)

CGNS 0 <= 4.5.2

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
