What is CVE-2026-110855?

GitPython, prior to version 3.2.0, has a vulnerability that allows attackers to exploit crafted .gitmodules submodule names to manipulate environment variables. When using the Repo._clone() method, the function does not set expand_vars=False while calling Git.polish_url(), potentially leading to unintentional exposure of sensitive data stored in the .git/modules directory and DEBUG log files. Thus, an attacker could leverage this flaw to glean confidential information from environment variables in a cloned repository.

Affected Version(s)
