What is CVE-2026-111148?

The libsidplayfp library is vulnerable to a heap out-of-bounds read, allowing attackers to manipulate PSID/RSID files by supplying unchecked data offsets. This vulnerability permits attackers to exceed the file size limitations, which enables the resolveAddrs() function to attempt reading up to 64 KiB past the heap buffer. Such exploitation could lead to application crashes, impairing software functionality and affecting user experience.

Affected Version(s)

libsidplayfp 0 <= 3.1.1

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
