What is CVE-2026-111214?

Netgate pfSense CE versions 2.7.0 to 2.9.0 are susceptible to an OS command injection vulnerability. Authenticated users with QinQ edit privileges have the potential to execute arbitrary commands. This is achievable through the manipulation of an unvalidated parent interface name, where an attacker can craft an 'if' value to be improperly processed within ifconfig shell commands. By modifying the QinQ entry in this manner, malicious actors gain root command execution, posing significant security risks to the integrity of systems relying on this software.

Affected Version(s)

pfSense CE 2.7.0 <= 2.9.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
