What is CVE-2026-111221?

Netgate pfSense CE, up to version 2.9.0, is vulnerable to a configuration injection flaw that enables authenticated WebGUI users to inject mpd5 commands. This vulnerability arises when an attacker with edit privileges for L2TP or PPPoE Server submits an unescaped RADIUS shared secret containing quotes and newlines through specific endpoints such as vpn_l2tp.php or services_pppoe_edit.php. The injected command is executed as a root script once a session starts, posing significant security risks for systems using this firewall and router platform.

Affected Version(s)

pfSense CE 0 <= 2.9.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
