What is CVE-2026-111222?

Netgate pfSense CE versions up to 2.9.0 are susceptible to a php.ini injection vulnerability, which allows authenticated users with General Setup privileges to manipulate settings by submitting unvalidated timezone values. This vulnerability can enable attackers to inject directives like auto_prepend_file targeting /var/db/zoneinfo, potentially executing PHP scripts with elevated privileges. Successful exploitation can occur after the regeneration of the php.ini file, which happens upon boot or a restart of php-fpm, leading to serious security risks.

Affected Version(s)

pfSense CE 0 <= 2.9.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
