What is CVE-2026-111232?

Netgate pfSense CE versions 2.3.0 through 2.9.0 are susceptible to a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This issue allows authenticated users with Firewall: Rules or NAT: Port Forward privileges to inject malicious scripts via the separator color field in the WebGUI. Attackers exploit this vulnerability by submitting a crafted separator[] color value, which is improperly rendered into class attributes by the display_separator() function. When this value is executed in the browser of an administrator, it can lead to unauthorized WebGUI actions, compromising the integrity of the firewall configuration.

Affected Version(s)

pfSense CE 2.3.0 <= 2.9.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
