What is CVE-2026-111234?

The SimplePie library, up to version 1.9.0, is vulnerable to a local file read attack. This occurs when malicious feed servers can exploit the library's handling of file redirects or autodiscovery links using file:// URLs. By manipulating the Location header or feed link to point to a file path, attackers can leverage the file_get_contents() function to access sensitive files that are readable by the web server process, potentially exposing critical information.

Affected Version(s)

simplepie 0 <= 1.9.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
