What is CVE-2026-111442?

Backdrop CMS versions 1.35.x prior to 1.35.2 and 1.34.x prior to 1.34.6 are susceptible to a security vulnerability due to inadequate validation of uploaded SVG images. This flaw allows for the potential execution of harmful scripts when SVG files are viewed directly via their URL. Although Backdrop embeds uploaded SVGs within tags to mitigate threats, the risk remains for users with the capability to upload SVGs, as crafted images may still contain dangerous scripting elements.
