What is CVE-2026-111874?
A vulnerability has been identified in OpenCATS 0.10.0 within the processLogin function of the CareersUI.php module, which improperly restricts excessive authentication attempts. This flaw potentially allows remote attackers to exploit the system under complex conditions. The maintainers have introduced a patch that enforces repeated authentication for candidates accessing the Career Portal and implements CAPTCHA verification for each login attempt. The previous client-side cookie mechanism for maintaining authenticated user identity has been replaced with a server-side approach, enhancing security. However, it is advised that application-level rate limiting should be handled externally, such as at the network or server level, instead of within OpenCATS' own framework.
Affected Version(s)
OpenCATS 0.10.0
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
