What is CVE-2026-111908?

A flaw in phpMyFAQ allows authenticated users with edit permissions to manipulate restricted FAQs through the API. This vulnerability occurs because the PUT /api/v3.1/faq/update endpoint only checks for global edit_faq permissions without verifying the user's access to specific FAQ entries. As a result, malicious users can alter FAQs they should not have access to, bypassing moderation controls and potentially changing visibility settings.

Affected Version(s)

phpMyFAQ 4.0.0 < 4.1.9

phpMyFAQ 4.2.0-alpha < 4.2.0-beta
