Use-After-Free Vulnerability in GIMP Affects Image Processing
CVE-2026-112258
7.8HIGH
What is CVE-2026-112258?
A vulnerability in GIMP's XCF loader has been identified, which can result in a dangling pointer in the linked-channels list. When a linked channel is destroyed via a selection property, opening a specially crafted XCF file could trigger a use-after-free condition in the main GIMP process. This flaw not only leads to application crashes but also opens up the potential for arbitrary code execution, posing a significant risk to user systems.
