Out-of-Bounds Read Vulnerability in libtins Affected by SOA Data Processing
CVE-2026-112274
6.3MEDIUM
What is CVE-2026-112274?
The libtins library, up to version 4.6, contains a vulnerability that permits remote attackers to execute an out-of-bounds read during DNS SOA record parsing. By supplying SOA data that lacks the necessary NUL terminators, an attacker can exploit this flaw. The absence of a zero byte in the raw SOA RDATA fed to the buffer constructor results in a call to strlen, which can lead to buffer overruns and potentially cause the application to crash.
