What is CVE-2026-112390?

The Pillow library, a popular Python imaging tool, features a vulnerability that can lead to an infinite loop when processing MIC images with multiple IFDs. This occurs because the MicImageFile's traversal for TIFF frames does not advance correctly when attempting to utilize the tell() method, particularly in the presence of at least three IFDs. Consequently, applications utilizing the olefile package may experience sustained high CPU usage when fetching frame counts or saving frames from specially crafted MIC files. This issue has been addressed in Pillow version 13.0.0.

Affected Version(s)

Pillow >= 7.2.0, < 13.0.0
