What is CVE-2026-112400?

The Pillow library, widely used for image processing in Python, contains a vulnerability where it fails to clear rejected GIF frame sizes following a decompression-bomb exception. This occurs in the GifImageFile._seek method, allowing crafted GIF files to retain erroneous dimensions. If an application handles this exception but continues to process the image, it may lead to excessive memory allocation during subsequent seek or load operations, potentially resulting in a denial of service. The issue has been resolved in Pillow version 13.0.0.

Affected Version(s)

Pillow >= 9.2.0, < 13.0.0
