What is CVE-2026-112402?

Pillow, a widely-used Python imaging library, exhibits a vulnerability prior to version 13.0.0 where a double free of image memory may occur during specific image transformation operations. This happens in the ImagingScaleAffine method when a selective allocation failure is encountered, primarily affecting cases with Transform.EXTENT or Transform.AFFINE operations using the default NEAREST resampling method. If allocation of the output image succeeds while a per-column lookup allocation fails, an error path is triggered that leads to the unintended deletion of image storage, which can be released again during cleanup. This flaw can be exploited by attackers under memory pressure to execute large Image.transform() operations, potentially causing process crashes and memory corruption. This issue has been resolved in version 13.0.0.

Affected Version(s)
