What is CVE-2026-112892?

The Pillow imaging library is susceptible to a memory exhaustion issue stemming from its MSP RLE decoder. Versions from 4.1.0 through 12.x can be manipulated by an attacker through crafted MSP image files, resulting in unbounded memory expansion during decoding. This vulnerability allows for denial of service as the decoder fails to enforce limits on the output buffer despite checks meant to identify decompression-bomb scenarios. Users are advised to upgrade to version 13.0.0 or later to mitigate this risk.

Affected Version(s)

Pillow >= 4.1.0, < 13.0.0
