What is CVE-2026-112896?

The Pillow imaging library, widely used in Python applications, has a vulnerability in its TIFF encoder prior to version 13.0.0. This issue arises when the ColorMap buffer retention is inconsistently set with the BitsPerSample, allowing a crafted TIFF image to potentially read beyond its allocated space. When an application re-encodes such an image using libtiff, it may disclose sensitive heap memory or even crash the process, leading to external exploitation risks.

Affected Version(s)

Pillow < 13.0.0
