What is CVE-2026-113496?

A security flaw in Cockpit Machines allows local unprivileged attackers to potentially expose stored VNC console passwords. When users save VNC console settings, the configured password is transmitted as a command-line argument to a system utility. If cross-user process inspection is enabled, other users on the same host can read the command arguments from the process list, leading to possible unauthorized access to the graphical console of the guest virtual machine. This vulnerability highlights the need for secure handling of sensitive data in command-line operations.
