What is CVE-2026-115905?

The Zip Library for Rust, specifically version 9.0.4, has a vulnerability where it improperly reconciles filenames in Central Directory File Header with those in Local File Header during file extraction. This can lead to a scenario where an attacker crafts a ZIP archive that appears harmless based on central directory inspection, yet allows the streaming extraction process to write to unintended paths specified by the attacker. As a result, this issue poses a risk of overwriting files that may be critical to downstream services. The vulnerability was addressed in version 9.0.5.
