What is CVE-2026-116179?

The vLLM API versions prior to 0.31.0 have a vulnerability that allows malicious API clients to bypass the frame count limit for video/jpeg data. By manipulating the 'num_frames' parameter through 'media_io_kwargs', attackers can set 'num_frames' to -1. This enables the loading of an unbounded number of frames, which can lead to excessive memory consumption, potentially crashing the API frontend and interrupting service availability.
