What is CVE-2026-116488?

The NXP MCUXpresso SDK USB middleware contains a vulnerability that allows a malicious USB device to exploit a heap buffer overflow in the host audio, video, and CDC class drivers. This security issue arises from insufficient validation of device-supplied parameters, specifically bNumEndpoints and bLength values. When a crafted USB descriptor is presented, it can lead to the corruption of heap memory by writing beyond the fixed-size epList array. This may facilitate remote code execution or a denial-of-service attack on affected systems.

Affected Version(s)

mcuxsdk-middleware-usb 0 < 2.13.0

mcuxsdk-middleware-usb 2.13.0

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
