What is CVE-2026-116581?

Seroval, a library that enhances JavaScript stringification capabilities, had a flaw prior to version 1.6.8. Specifically, the functions fromJSON and fromCrossJSON failed to validate the 'done' index of sequence nodes. This oversight allows for the creation of an iterator that can become indefinitely unresolved when utilized in application code. Consequently, an unauthenticated request targeting a service that decodes untrusted inputs can lead to significant issues, which may include blocking the event loop, depleting process memory, or rendering the service unavailable. Users are advised to upgrade to version 1.6.8 or later to mitigate these risks.
