What is CVE-2026-116727?

The gbsplay application, up to version 0.0.103, contains a vulnerability in the vgm_open() function within gbs.c, leading to a heap out-of-bounds read. This occurs when the application processes a crafted VGM file that has wait opcodes without a proper 0x66 terminator. The lack of bounds checks allows attackers to read beyond the intended heap buffer, potentially causing a crash of the player. Proper patching and review of VGM files are essential to mitigate this risk.
